Views from Spring Canyon State Park & vicinity on the north end of the Florida Mountains. The Florida Mountains are a rugged igneous mountain range just southeast of Deming. The dominant rock in the peaks was described to me by one of the geology professors here at NMSU as altered andesite. It's slightly greenish, apparently because of very hot water it contained at one point.

A low stone circle near the entrance of Spring Canyon State Park, 11/14/04. I'm not sure of the origin of the circle. When I posted this picture on chihuahuandesert.com, camping 19th century soldiers and bored surveyors were suggested as the most likely builders.

The view northwest towards Deming from the ridge above Lovers Leap Canyon in Spring Canyon State Park, 1/6/05. The ridge between me and Deming is called Dragon Ridge.
