From near the end of NM 475 a trail extends to the summit of Tesuque Peak, which is the site of several radio towers. The lower part of the trail is dominated by aspen as a result of a severe fire in the late 1800's, the upper part is spruce/fir forest, and the summit itself extends above timberline.

Looking west at the Jemez Mountains from near timberline, 6/16/05.

Looking northeast from the summit at Lake Peak (left) and Penitente Peak (right), 6/16/05.

A rocky slope with alpine flowers on the west side of the summit, 6/16/05.
