The Toiyabe Range is a high, north-south range. The ridges are quite dry, with sagebrush shrubland extends at least up to 9500 feet, but there is also a permanent stream running through moist meadows in Kingston Canyon. "Toiyabe" is pronounced "toe-YAH-bee", according to a resident of Eureka.

Kingston Canyon, 8/5/06. The white flowers in the stream are Batrachium circinatum. Reddish spikes on the far bank are Rumex, and the scattered yellow flowers on the left are Senecio serra.
