Abronia villosa var. villosa
I've only seen this plant at Mohawk Dunes, east of Yuma, Arizona. It's common in dune
areas throughout southwestern Arizona and southeastern California, and is distinguished from
var. aurita by having shorter flowers & fruits that are strongly rugosely veined.

Nice floral community at Mohawk Dunes, 2/27/05. The purple flowers visible at Abronia
villosa. The large white flowers are Oenothera deltoides. The smaller white
flowers on the right are Dimorphocarpa wislizenii.
