Lappula occidentalis var. cupulata
This is a common spring-flowering species in rocky areas at low elevations. The spiny nutlets can
be a nuisance later in the season. Lappula texana is a synonym; it is distinguished from
Lappula occidentalis var. occidentalis by having the spines of the nutlets confluent at
their bases. Flowers are usually white, occasionally blue.
