Sida abutifolia Mill.

A common, prostrate plant with long hairs on the stems, pedicels, & petioles and pubescence on both surfaces of the leaf blades. Found from southeastern California to central Texas.

Plant habit at Owl Canyon, 24 Aug 2008. So far as I can tell, these plants are erect in their first year & trailing in subsequent years. The erect habit initially led me to mistake these for Sphaeralcea neomexicana, but these plants had annual-like root systems.
