Views from near the campgrounds on the north side of New Hogan Lake.

Looking south from an inlet on the north side of the lake, 29 Mar 2009. The "bath-tub rim" of open ground devoid of perennial vegetation is apparently typical of all artificial lakes in California, due to frequent fluctuations in the water level. It is relatively innocuous here, but exceedingly ugly at many of the other lakes on the west side of the Sierra Nevada, such as Lake Shasta and Lake Oroville.
