The Kisatchie Hills Wilderness in Kisatchie National Forest is the only area I've photographed in Louisiana. The area has sandstone ridges supporting longleaf pines, surrounded by moist lowland.

Upland forest in the wilderness, 28 Jun 2007. Most of the longleaf pine forest within the wilderness is like this, brushy and overgrown. Prescribed fires appear to be needed.
