The Head of the Ditch Campground is so named because it is near the head of an irrigation ditch that diverts water from the San Francisco River for irrigation near the small town of Luna. Given the size of the San Francisco River, it doesn't seem there would be much water to divert... nonetheless it is a beautiful area.
