Three Rivers Canyon, with Three Rivers Campground at the top end of the road and Three Rivers Petroglyph Site down at the edge of the flats, offers a mixture of pinyon/juniper grasslands and a surprisingly mesic canyon, complete with a running stream when I visited on the 14th of May, 2005.

Looking up Three Rivers Canyon from the north side of the campground. I'm not sure which peak is visible, there, but Sierra Blanca Peak is off to the right of the image, behind a ridge.
