Dell City itself is in Texas just across the border. Its influence, however, extends a few miles into New Mexico, where this picture was taken. This is southwestern agriculture at its finest: heavily irrigated and ultimately doomed. Water supplies are fairly secure in this area but the water is heavily mineralized, leading to soil toxicity after prolonged irrigation.
