Camissonia claviformis subsp. aurantiaca

A common plant in low rocky areas and flats the Sonoran Desert. The subspecific epithet is somewhat baffling, since this subspecies is white-flowered.

The creosote flats on the west side of Mohawk Dunes, 2/27/05. The smaller white flowers you can see here are Camissonia claviformis, the large yellow flowers are Oenothera primiveris.
