Red Ass Spring is a mile and a half or so from the Chimneys. There is no trail (that I could find) but the spring is marked by a large cottonwood visible to the north-northwest from the Chimneys. For that matter, the cottonwood is visible from the Chimneys trailhead.

Red Ass Spring and its significatory cottonwood, 3/23/06. Though you can see the cottonwood for miles, you cannot reach it. You will find your way blocked by myriad spiny, thorny, and otherwise uncongenial shrubs.

A smaller cottonwood at the downstread end of the spring, 3/23/06.
